FarCry MP Tournament pack 2004

Notes: FarCry had a lack of real suitable tournament maps for clan matches. So two leveldesigners at Crytek volunteered to create some in their free time. The main intension of these maps was fun, gameplay and balance. Eye candy and beautyfication was a minor important issue as long as the maps do not look really ugly. The gamemode of these maps is ASSAULT so we first studied other good and bad maps to do it right this time.
The maps got released together with other fan maps as a unoffical Chrismas present at crymod.com for the community. Thanks to the [00] clan for testing.

MP_TO_Fortress

This map was my first trie again in ASSAULT for FarCry. The main intension was to create simple, balanced gameplay in a tropical island envrionment. Besides vegetation and terrain I mainly used concrete blocks to create intresting tactical situations. Every ASSAULT field included more and more of suck blocks till the last field almost complety was build out of them. I know they do not look extremly pretty but they work fine for gameplay and why should i care about something else here?

MP_TO_Facility

In this map I tried something completly new. The first real complete indoor FarCry MP map. Due to our pixel per pixel lighting and stencil shadow technology it was a hard task and a challange. The biggest problem was that the technology heavily influenced the gameplay due to its restrictions about lighting and dynamic objects. This is the reason why every room can just have one big light source and why the overall map is pretty dark. Finally I developed a few technqiues so we still have the style and atmosphere of indoor maps with the well know free gameplay of FarCry. Playing and building this map was a real complete new experience in FarCry MP. The first field has an industrial setting then it leads into an office area and it finaly ends in a hightech one.

MP_TO_Ruins

The last map was again more standart, just the last field was again a indoor map where I could used all of my previous indoor experiences. In the first field the attacker assault a camp at the river, then they progress to the temple area and at the end they finaly fight inside the underground temple ruins.
